| Online Social Networking for Children |
National E-security Awareness Week was held over the 6th – 13th June this year and it bought about a lot of discussion within the sector about children using the internet for social networking. As you can imagine there are many traps to be found with unsupervised children chatting online without always knowing who they are conversing with.
With over 65 million visitors using MySpace per month it’s easy to see that online social networking is an accepted modern method of keeping in touch with one another however children do not have the skills to judge what information about themselves they should be placing within the online arena.
It's undeniable that most kids these days are quite net savvy however this has bred almost complacency in what information they share about their lives whether it be personal details or even photos and videos of themselves and their friends.
Whilst many parents fear this trend its essential that children are taught the skills necessary to participate online safely and the Federal Government has set up several websites for parents to learn about what is available.

A Few Good Page Layout Tools for Nonprofits
By: Chris Bernard
September 9, 2008
This article is courtesy of Idealware, which provides candid information to help nonprofits choose effective software. For more articles and reviews, go to www.idealware.org.
Do you want to create letterhead for your non-profit, or lay out a monthly newsletter or report? Send thank-you cards to donors? Create an invite for your next event?
All these tasks fall under the umbrella of page layout.
If you have a complicated project or need a polished result, it probably makes sense to hire a freelance designer. Professionals in that field have an eye for design and a broad knowledge of page layout, typography and graphic arts, plus the skills to combine those elements into visually aesthetic materials. But if you just need to put something basic together, or if you find your organisation needing more and more layout or design work, it might be time to take matters into your own hands.
We spoke to five non-profit technology and creative professionals about the page layout tools that have worked for them and their organisations. We've consolidated their advice to help you find a tool that might work for you.
