Understanding Microsoft's donation limits
|
|
If your organisation is eligible to receive Microsoft donations, you may request up to six software titles and up to 50 user licenses per title (or one licence per server title) in every 2 year cycle. You may request these titles and licenses all at one time or split them between two requests, at least twelve months apart.
For our purposes, a "title" refers to any product listed in DonorTec's Microsoft catalogue. For example, Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition and Exchange Server User Client Access License (CAL) - Standard are two titles. If you request Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition and 50 User CALs, that counts as two of your six titles.
The chart below illustrates the two-year cycle for Microsoft donations. You can make a second Microsoft donation request after at least one year has passed from your first request in a two-year cycle, but the sum of both requests cannot exceed six software titles and up to 50 licenses per title. If you requested your limit at the beginning of the cycle, then you must wait until a new cycle begins two years after your donation. (There are some exceptions for servers and additional licenses of titles you already requested.)
At the end of the two-year cycle, your limits are reset. You cannot carry over unused titles or licenses from one cycle to the next, so you should maximize your requests during each two-year period.

Connecting the blind to the world
|
|
The Association for the Blind of Western Australia ABWA provides clients with the individual help that they need, like learning how to move safely around their home, workplace, local shopping areas and using public transport. They provide guide dogs for clients as well as a wide range of white canes, navigation equipment and other new technology as it becomes available to help with mobility.
They also provide specific services to children and their families to help them as they cope with growing up, going to school, socialising and getting involved in sport and leisure. At the other end of the spectrum, they help people who are approaching their twilight years, by ensuring that they do not become isolated and that they can participate in life, despite vision loss.
The DonorTec Program has directly assisted ABWA to upgrade its technology training rooms and library to bring them into line with current industry standards. Liz Macilhone from ABWA says “We received copies of Microsoft Office 2007 at an incredible price, and this freed up some resources to then let us purchase upgrades to the assistive technology used by our clients. The assistive technology we require to provide a person with vision impairment, with access to a computer. Without this, our clients and particularly our young children coming up through school and into tertiary education would be disadvantaged compared to other West Australians.”

Your Questions Answered
Why does the eOpen website tell me “No volume licence keys were found” when I know my products need volume licence keys?
If you have followed the instructions to retrieve your Microsoft Volume Licence Keys from the Microsoft e-Open Licensing email but the keys you need are not displayed on your Product Keys Page, please see Click here. No physical media will be sent if you have ordered Client Access Licenses (CALs). To access these CALs you may need to call The Microsoft Activation Centre on 1800 642 008 ready to quote your licensing and authorisation numbers from your Microsoft Open Licence Confirmation Email.
Why don’t the number of Microsoft products I ordered equal the number of disks I have received?
You should only ever receive one media kit for each title you have ordered. The volume licence keys you access from following the instructions in the Microsoft Open Licence Confirmation Email that is sent to your organisation’s registered email address will allow you to go about licensing your ordered products. For example if you have ordered 5 licences of Office Professional Plus 2007 you will be able to install the same media kit on 5 different computers entering the same volume licence key when prompted.

Getup and contribute!
GetUp is an independent, grass-roots community advocacy organisation giving everyday Australians opportunities to get involved and hold politicians accountable on important issues. They are a nonprofit that receives no money from any political party or the government. They rely solely on funds and in-kind donations from the Australian public.
We would like to make you aware of their latest campaign regarding a very important issue - Government Censorship. We all know that the power of the internet is in collaboration. So, having asked their 300,000 strong community to submit ideas for a TV ad turning up the heat on the Government's internet censorship plan, they are proud to announce the result: a sharp parody video that highlights how ridiculous the plan is - Censordyne!
They have made a video which they would like to make sure is seen in all the right places such as shows that politicians and their staff watch every week - Meet the Press, Sky News, and the most watched news program in the country - Seven News.
To accompany the launch of this ad, GetUp has also teamed up with a host of organisations - from children's welfare groups to human rights organisations, who have united to oppose the Government's internet filter that will do little to protect children online, other than diverting resources away from where they' are really needed.
Let's harness the power of the internet to save it - your contribution, matched by thousands of others like you, can take this campaign sky high. And it couldn't be at a more crucial time, with trials of the filter about to finish the Government will soon make a decision.
Watch it here and chip in to put it in front of every politician, all their staff, and every political writer as they make their way to Canberra.
