Competition - A Jpeg is worth a 1000 words
A lot of time is spent by DonorTec staff promoting our donations program to nonprofit organisations around the country. Unfortunately this means we do not often see how your organisations impact the community at large. We would like to prove the theory that pictures truly are worth a thousand words.
If your organisation helps people to realise their potential, changes lives, positively impacts the environment or simply performs a valuable service in the community then maybe this competition is for you.
All you need to do is:
- send us an image or images (no more than 3) in jpeg format to images@donortec.com.au no later than 12 December that reflect the difference your organisation makes
- accompany each image with a brief description
- supply your name, organisation name and contact details
DonorTec will choose two images for publication in its next newsletter going out to over 30 000 email addresses.
Competition Winners
The two winners who have won their choice of a wireless mouse and keyboard set or a wireless headset are Debbie Hartley from RSPCA ACT for Belle the Possum and Gavan White from Legacy for his entry of Donna and her baby. See their entries below:
Belle the possum became an orphan when her mother was tragically struck down by a car and left to die. Tiny Belle, only a few days old, was found alive in her dead mother's pouch and she was immediately taken to RSPCA ACT's wildlife department. That was 8 months ago. Belle, who is now a young adult, has been released back into the wild to continue her life journey.
It is because of the dedicated and caring staff and volunteers at RSPCA ACT that Belle, and the 1000s of other native animals that are brought to RSPCA ACT every year, are nurtured, rehabilitated and released, to be given a second chance at life.
This is a photograph of Donna and her infant son Jacob. Jacob's father died as a result of injuries sustained on peacekeeping operations with the Australian Defence Force, and Jacob is seen here wearing his father's operational service medals. Donna discovered she was pregnant with Jacob the day before her husband's funeral.
Legacy is the volunteer organisation that has been caring for the families of deceased Australian veterans since 1923, and is still deeply involved in caring for Donna, Jacob and thousands of other families like theirs. Legacy relies on donations from the public to continue its vital work helping families thrive, despite their adversity and loss.

Thank you for the interest you have shown in this latest competition! The entries received are truly inspirational which is why we have created 2 You Tube movies from the images we have received as a tribute to the nonprofit organisations that are doing great work around Australia. Other suitable images will be added to our newly created Facebook Fan page. Make sure you become a fan today!
