Microsoft Windows Server User CAL (Includes Software Assurance)

Microsoft Windows Server is Microsoft's solution for workgroup file, print, and communication servers, as well as for Internet content delivery. This is a Microsoft Windows Server User Client Access Licence (CAL) for Microsoft Windows Server Standard Edition and Microsoft Windows Server Enterprise Edition.

A Microsoft Windows Server Client Access Licence is needed for every device or user accessing the server for using file services, printing services, remote access service, or terminal services, or any authenticated users accessing Microsoft Windows Server as a Web server or an application server. For a significant number of authenticated Internet users, a Microsoft Windows Server External Connector Licence is available.

This Microsoft Windows Server User CAL authorises a user to access Microsoft Windows Server from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home). Microsoft Windows Server Device CALs are also available. A Microsoft Windows Server Device CAL authorises one computer to access Microsoft Windows Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).
