Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 (Includes Software Assurance)

Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 is a project management and version control application for software development teams. It's typically deployed in organizations with several developers who need to collaborate on one or more projects.

Note: Most of the Visual Studio 2010 editions available through TechSoup include a subscription to the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN). This subscription includes access to Microsoft operating systems and software, including Team Foundation Server 2010 (licensed for a single production instance of the application) and one user client access license (CAL).

Team Foundation Server helps software development teams manage project coordination and reporting, task dependencies, bug tracking, unit testing, source control, build management, and other organizational issues associated with large and mid-sized programming projects.

Team Foundation Server can integrate with Visual Studio 2010 products, allowing developers to access Team Foundation Server functionality within the Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE). Users without a Visual Studio 2010 product can access Team Foundation Server with the Visual Studio Team Explorer client software, available as a free download from Microsoft.

This product includes a server license. Each user or device that connects to Team Foundation Server must have a Team Foundation Server user or device CAL. As stated above, most of the Visual Studio 2010 editions available through TechSoup come with a subscription to MSDN that includes a Team Foundation Server user CAL. Users of Visual Studio Team Explorer or Visual Studio 2010 Team Explorer Everywhere will need a Team Foundation Server user or device CAL to access Team Foundation Server. Certain uses of Team Foundation Server, such as submitting a feature request or a bug report, don't require a CAL, but most developers will need a CAL.

Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
