A Project Portfolio Server client access license (CAL) gives a user the right to access the services of Project Portfolio Server through its Web client, Project Portfolio Web Access. This user CAL authorizes a user to access the services of Project Portfolio Server from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home).

Device CALs are also available. A device CAL authorizes one computer to access the services of Project Portfolio Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, a shared workstation).
