This device client access license (CAL) authorizes one computer to access Office Communications Server or Live Communications Server regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).
  • This standard CAL supports the instant message and presence capabilities of Office Communications Server 2007. For conferencing and voice and call management, an enterprise CAL is required.
  • Live Communications Server 2005 does not have separate standard and enterprise CALs; only the one license is needed.

User CALs are also available. A user CAL authorizes one user to access Communications Server from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home).

Note: This license does not require media.
