Microsoft Lync Server External Connector Licence - Standard (Includes Software Assurance)

This Microsoft Lync Server Standard External Connector licence supports instant messaging, presence, and PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities for any number of external users or devices accessing a single installation of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Additional licences are required for audio, video, and web conferencing, application sharing, and enterprise telephony capabilities.

A Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise External Connector licence provides all but voice telephony features when used with Microsoft Lync Server 2010; voice telephony features require a Microsoft Lync Server Plus External Connector licence. To enable all features in Microsoft Lync Server 2010, all three Microsoft Lync Server External Connector licences (Microsoft Lync Server Standard External Connector licence, Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise External Connector licence and Microsoft Lync Server Plus External Connector licence) are needed.

A Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise External Connector licence provides all these capabilities when used with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. To enable all features, both Microsoft Lync Server Standard External Connector and Microsoft Lync Server Enterprise External Connector licences are needed.

Generally, an external user is defined as anyone who is not an employee of the organisation. For example, external users can include clients, suppliers, and alumni of the organisation. External users do not include independent contractors, agents, service providers, or other persons providing services to or on behalf of the organisation holding the licence.

The Microsoft Lync Server Standard External Connector licence may not be used as a means of reselling or repackaging Microsoft Lync Server 2010 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 as a hosted service.

Microsoft Lync Server Device CALs and Microsoft Lync Server User CALs are also available for internal use. A Microsoft Lync Server Device CAL authorises one computer to access the server, regardless of the number of users. A Microsoft Lync Server User CAL authorises one user to access the server on any number of devices.

Licence Only: This licence does not require media, licence keys, or setup codes.

Software Assurance: Under the Software Assurance program, you have the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of your coverage.
