Installing and setting up Microsoft SharePoint

Q: I want to use Microsoft SharePoint for our organisations intranet. Other than Microsoft SharePoint, what else do I need to run it? Do I need Microsoft SQL Server?

Mental health service delivery software

Q: I work for an organisation which delivers mental health services in a community setting to a range of clients. We need to record incoming referrals, develop a service plan with a client, record services provided (e.g. case notes or file notes), manage referrals to other service providers, record participants at group sessions, report to funding providers on services provided, hours of service delivered, etc. It appears to be a niche area, however we are aware of some systems in existence. Is there anything available through DonorTec, or are you aware of anything which might be available to us?

How do I install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010?

Q: I've just received my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 donation. There are 4 discs in total and I can't work out which I need to install. Can you help me please?

Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 Premium

Q: I am looking to order Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 Premium on your website, but cannot find it. We are currently undertaking a project that requires Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 Premium, is it available through DonorTec?

Installing Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus on a netbook without a CD/DVD drive

Q: I'd like to install Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus on a netbook without a CD/DVD drive, and I've tried to download the trial version from the internet and then upgrade using our MAK but to no avail.

Upgrading from Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium to Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

Q: The computers we have use Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.  We are considering moving to Microsoft Windows 7 Professional. I see from Microsoft's website that Microsoft Windows Anytime Upgrade will achieve this, but it does not appear on the list of upgrades listed with DonorTec. None of the upgrades listed with DonorTec appear to permit an upgrade from Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium to Microsoft Windows 7 Professional. Is this correct, or is there an upgrade available through DonorTec?

What is meant by seats when requesting Microsoft software?

Q: I am trying to order Microsoft Office Professional 2010, (this is my first time ordering from DonorTec). My order keeps coming back as 'unable to qualify' as Microsoft requires us to order a minimum of 5 seats. I'm not sure what is meant by seats. Could you please clarify?

A: Through the Microsoft donation program you are required to order a minimum of 5 seats per order. A ‘seat' is the same as a licence for a product.

Transferring licences between old and new computers

Q: Are the Microsoft titles and licenses already installed on existing computers transferable to new computers?

Purchasing software in advance of installation

Q: Our Club, which is registered with your organisation, proposes replacing our existing computers over an extended period and seeks advice on whether we may purchase one title for, say Microsoft Office 2010 with 15 licenses and hold them for installation in computers as they are purchased.

Upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows Vista

Q: I have Windows Vista Business 32 bit on a laptop and would like to upgrade. I do have Windows 7 Pro 32 and 64 bit. Can I just load on and update? Will all the existing programs need re-loading?
