Activating Software Assurance

You can only use Software Assurance to obtain upgrades that have been released within two years of the date you originally requested the software. You can still request free upgrades after your Software Assurance has expired, but you can upgrade only to versions that released before the expiration.

What to do when your Software Assurance expires after 2 years
As there is no option to renew Software Assurance in order to obtain an upgrade after Software Assurance expiration, a customer organisation may purchase an upgrade from a charity reseller. If eligible your organisation may request new versions through the DonorTec program.
