DonorTec Impact | Kurbingui Youth Association

The following extracts have been taken from a letter we received from Sue Perel from Kurbingui Youth Development Association expressing her appreciation for the DonorTec program and the X-box which her organisation won in a previous DonorTec competition.

When the software arrived it truly was like Christmas unwrapping all that stuff. We tried to think ahead to encompass our needs for the coming year at least, and the saving is immeasurable. This has meant that we can plan ahead for developing programs and know that we have the resources on hand instead of waiting for a funding opportunity."

DonorTec Impact | Seniors have Access to safe and confident living

Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register Incorporated (RPSCRI) promotes safe and confident living to thousands of senior residents of the Mornington Peninsula.

Some of the many important functions RPSCRI performs include making elderly people feel safer, minimising the fear of crime amongst the elderly and increasing the awareness of elderly people to their own safety and security.

“The people who work on our register and computers are most grateful to Microsoft for making this software available to us," says Marie. “Thank you DonorTec for making this possible - every bit of help we can get is just terrific.”

DonorTec Impact | Women of Bega, doing ‘IT’ for themselves

The Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) is a valuable organisation that provides free resources, information and referrals to women on a range of issues.

Being able to upgrade for free to the latest Microsoft offerings available is of great assistance to those who are studying, running a small business or just simply wanting to learn more about computers.

In fact Microsoft has played a major role in a ‘very small organisation’ development to offer assistance to all women living in the Bega Valley region – which extends to a staggering 33,000 square kilometres.

DonorTec Impact | DADS get the tools to build a better life

Graham Mayer, Executive Director of D.A.D.S. says, “We currently have no funding whatsoever, we just can't afford the Microsoft software required to provide for our members. Having Microsoft donate their software through DonorTec means we can share information easily with our members and keep one another informed.”

DonorTec Impact | Outback radio station on forefront of technology

Umeewarra Aboriginal Media Association (UAMA) offers a very important service to the community of the Port Augusta region. As South Australia’s only Aboriginal radio station it has given the Aboriginal people a voice that they wouldn’t normally get in mainstream media.

Gayle from UAMA says, “Our organisation purchased software through DonorTec and this has been of great benefit to our limited budget. Funding is tight and just keeping the doors open can be very difficult. DonorTec has enabled us to have up to date software on our computers and for a media organisation this is a vital part of being able to be competitive in our market.”

“We can’t thank DonorTec and their partners enough for their support not only to our organisation but to the community itself. It has been really important in enabling us to do the work we do.”

DonorTec Impact | Valuable contribution helping life’s little treasures

Shusannah Morris, Vice President of LLT says, “In 2009, LLT received licenses for the Microsoft Office Professional Plus. This was a huge change for us as it meant all committee members would now have a copy, we could all share work and were all working off the same version. This makes us far more efficient and effective in what we do.”

“Software is so expensive and very often out of reach for small not-for-profit organisations...Being able to tap into a resource such as this with the software that is available – I would really urge any not-for-profit organisation to look into it. Its connecting people up, it wouldn’t have happened for us without DonorTec."

DonorTec Impact | Asthma SA is breathing easy with up-to-date security software

Through the DonorTec program the Asthma Foundation of SA was provided with Sophos security software. This enables the Asthma Foundation's community training program’s to visit schools and workplaces without the threat of picking up potential viruses.  The security software detects viruses or any potential problems for the organisations individual computers and laptops.

Mathew Green from the Asthma Foundation of SA says “Funding for the community based programs and training come mostly from donations. We can obviously do a lot more for the community by saving money spent on software. You’d be crazy not to go to DonorTec. You can pay a lot more for less service and the same product. It saves us time and money.

DonorTec Impact | Hotham Mission Asylum Seeker Project

Four women and one man, all about 30, sitting close in the upstairs bedroom of a two bedroom flat in North Melbourne. Their clothes explore the whole range from charcoal to black.  The room is dim. The blind is down to stop the glare through the large northerly window.

"We now produce accurate statistics that have helped us to succeed in funding applications, produce better reports for our supporters and the media, and better evidence when advocating with government for policy improvements."

DonorTec Impact | A Jpeg is worth 1000 words

Thank you for the interest you have shown in this latest competition! (A Jpeg is worth a 1000 words) The entries received are truly inspirational which is why we have created 2 You Tube movies from the images we have received as a tribute to the nonprofit organisations that are doing great work around Australia.

DonorTec Impact | New dogs on the block

Richard Lord from ADA say “The donated Microsoft software has allowed our organisation to grow and assist more people with disabilities around Australia. We are better at keeping records of all our stake holders and also much improved communications with our stakeholders as well.”
