Microsoft Office 2010: Our favourite (new) features

The latest version of Microsoft Office came out last month and since then we've been fiddling, playing, testing, and tweaking to learn all we can about the 2010 version of the popular office productivity suite. For many organizations, it's the standard-bearer software that lives on nearly every computer and is used daily by millions, so we think it's pretty important to have a good handle on how to answer the seminal question asked by resource-strapped nonprofits — "Should we bother upgrading?"

Microsoft Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, and the Cloud

Microsoft's new version of Office 2010 is interesting in several ways, especially in its approach to green IT and cloud computing.

In addition to the free, ad-supported version of Office Web Apps on Windows Live, there is also a version of Microsoft Office Web Apps for Organisations, which allows organisations to set up their own intranet using their own server.

FABO Awards Launch

When we come to acknowledge the contribution of Australia’s non-profit organisations in our society, we can too easily forget about the people that work behind the scenes to make these organisations as good as they are.

In order to publicly appreciate the amazing people who work in the back offices, Matrix on Board* has initiated the Finance, Administration and Back Offices (FABO) awards.

“We work with back office people in not for profit organisations across the country and we know that they are the backbone; without them, the work of so many organisations would grind to a halt.

Administration fees explained

How are our administration fees determined?

The administration fees for Microsoft donations increased 1 July 2010. The TechSoup Global network (of which we are a member) has an agreement with Microsoft on what is an acceptable level of administration fees to pass on to you, our customers. This level has been set at approximately 4 per cent of each product's retail value.

Don’t Miss Out! Get your orders in by the end of the financial year

Some of our donor partners limit their order requests to 1 each financial year. DonorTec wants you to be aware that if you request any software from the donor partners listed below before July 1, your account will be reset to allow you to place another order anytime from July 1 onwards.

To help you make the most of this opportunity, we’ve highlighted some of the donors whose products are affected by the fiscal year end. Maximise your benefits by placing a request from any of the donors below so that you may place another request after 1 July.
